I firmly believe in the motto “We Serve.” As an educator at Fort Hays Tech | Northwest, I strive to instill the value of service in my students, helping them develop a lifelong commitment to giving back. Through partnerships with our local Lions Club and SkillsUSA chapter, my students actively engage in community service—whether it’s delivering Meals on Wheels, putting out flags on holidays, or assisting with blood drives. Seeing them return with smiles after making a difference in their community is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role as a teacher.
Beyond the classroom, I find great joy in visiting Lions Clubs across different communities. Everywhere I go, I meet dedicated individuals making an impact. This commitment to service is something I also experience when riding my motorcycle cross-country. Time and again, I stop at parks, gazebos, and other community landmarks that wouldn’t exist without the efforts of a local Lions Club. Towns with that familiar Lions Club sign always seem to have a special sense of unity and goodwill.
I often reflect on how different the world would be without the dedicated volunteers of Lions Clubs. Their selfless contributions shape communities, and I am proud to be a part of this incredible organization. It is an honor to serve as the Second Vice District Governor of District K in Kansas.
